Seeing a spider can give you the hibbie-jibbies imagining the eight legs creeping and crawling all over the place. Doesn’t is always seem like spiders have too many legs? Now if you are battling a full on infestation of these eight legged creatures you may want to have a solution or two that can help you blast them away before you get to call the local exterminator to eliminate them from your space.
Home remedies
Home remedies focus on using materials that are not potent or have adverse reactions to human beings. This means they can be used often and around children. Of course if you don’t want to use sprays and want a natural remedies consider introducing lady bugs in your garden because they will eat the spider’s food forcing them to go and look for food elsewhere.
Peppermint spray
Peppermint has long been used to keep out insects and spiders are no exception. They are just as affected by the minty oil. The scent is extreme to the spider effectively driving it away. You can make a simple spray using peppermint oil and water. It is important to make sure you dilute the oil in order to prevent it from affecting people and pets with sensitive skill if they come in contact with it. This spray can be used even when the family is at home.
You can also soak up the oil in cotton balls and place them strategically in the house to continually work on repelling the spiders. Look for areas you think the spiders re gaining entry through and stash the cotton balls there.
Vinegar spray
Vinegar has a strong scent that is repelling to spiders. Add some oil to the vinegar and spray liberally and also create vinegar balls which you can stash in the strategic places in the house to complement the spray.
The recipe includes one cup of vinegar with oil, one cup of pepper and a teaspoonful of liquid dish soap. This mixture can be sprayed on the window sills and the door to deter entry in the first place. Respray the mixture every so often and especially after it rains.
Commercial sprays
These are the commercially manufactured sprays that are commonly found in the local store. They range from brands like Raid to Raptor and the like.
Of course for any spray you get you have to make sure the house is clean in the first place to eliminate the spiders food source. The spiders will come indoor s in search of insects which have been attracted by the food left strewn around in your space.
